What is hard enamel and how does a hard enamel pin look like?

Hard enamel pins are die struck pins or die casted pins with color applied using a small brush or needle.

After the enamel is filled onto the recessed areas of the pin, the thin metal lines on the pin separate each of the colors. Then the pins will be put in an oven and heated to a high temperature until the enamels are attached on the pins strongly. After this process, the pins will be polished well and then plated with metallic lustre. Finally the pins will achieve a bright and smooth hard enamel finish.
