Soft enamel is the most popular manufacturing process, because it offers brilliant colors and raised metal detailing. Soft enamel pins are die struck from a solid piece of copper or iron electroplated with silver (nickel), gold or bronze, then the enamels are hand-filled onto the recessed areas of the pins and kiln-baked at 160 degrees centigrade to seal the colors. Once done, factory people can choose to cover some clear epoxy on the surface to protect the pin, and also to achieve a smoothing surface. Certainly, if the clients do not want to add epoxy, the pins can just be packed for shipping .
